Financial Services Track: Singapore's increasing stature as Asia's banking and financial hub demands a new breed of business IT professionals for a rapidly growing Financial Services sector. SMU MITB (FS) is an intensive programme designed to groom world-class professionals adept in process management, operations, technology solutions and innovation strategies. Its curriculum, with inputs from over 60 industry experts, provides in-depth knowledge of business methods and management concepts for the Technology and Operations group. MITB (FS) is aimed at T&O professionals wanting to enhance their knowledge to advance their career and for other professionals aspiring to embark on banking T&O careers.

Analytics Track: In a competitive environment, marshalling Business Intelligence and Data Analytics on a real-time basis to make decisions, create value and develop a sustained competitive advantage is imperative. SMU MITB (AT) is Asia's first professional masters programme to meet this demand. Co-designed by leading global and regional sector firms from hospitality, tourism, supply chain, retail, healthcare, public sector and telecommunications, it promises a robust and systematic understanding across processes, operations, data, technology solutions and management supervision. It is aimed at professionals with a background in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Engineering or the Sciences.

Analytics Track (Blended Learning): MITB Analytics Blended Learning aims to deliver a high quality program that is accessible to global audiences (focusing on Asia) which follows the existing MITB (Analytics) curriculum. The blended learning MITB program will make it possible for professionals who are unable to relocate to another country, to pursue a graduate education. Class sessions are a combination of face-to-face lectures and with online lectures with discussions, hands-on lab sessions, problem-solving practice classes and group work.

Financial Services Analytics Track: Technology is pushing the envelope for financial institutions in many fronts – for example, customer data, risk measures, capacity, market expectations and operational efficiency. Institutions that leverage on analytics to gain insights into their customers, operations and market opportunities can position themselves for continuing success. Transforming data into actionable insights require analytics and people with knowledge in business domain and skills in using the tools. Analytics can be leveraged across all lines of business in a financial institution in areas which include but not limited to customer attrition, cross selling, value of a transaction can be unlocked using analytics. In addition, analytics help combat fraud more efficiently while protecting customers. Today, risk management needs to be revitalized; optimization is needed to drive profits. MITB (FA) spells agility in translating data into concrete actionable insights that drive growth in financial services industry

 

Residential Programmes

Part Time & Full Time Studies Full-time candidature 1 year to a maximum of 2 years and 8 months. 

Part-time candidature 2 years to a maximum of 4 years.

The MITB programme runs its academic year on 3 regular terms. Each of these 15-week regular terms is then further divided into two 7-week mini-terms with a 1-week break.

All classes are held either on weekday evenings from 7 pm onwards, Saturday morning, or Saturday afternoons. These timings have been chosen to accommodate the working schedules of our part-time students who are concurrently working and our full-time students who are engaged with industry attachments.

 

Blended Learning Part Time Studies

Part-time candidature minimum of 1 year & maximum of 3 years. Analytics (Blended Learning) programme will have a total of 4 blocks in the curriculum covering the 13 Course Units (CU’s). Teaching terms is divided into 4 blocks of 12 weeks each. Each block starts with residential period of up to 1 week followed by 10 weeks of online sessions. A term break of one week at the end of each block. The entire program takes 48 weeks inclusive of term breaks.

Admission

    • A good Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Business, Accountancy, Economics, or Science
    • A valid GMAT/ GRE score (GMAT code: F8D-Z4-61)

Requirements for Financial Services Track:

  • Preferably 2 or more years of IT and/or operations related work experience in Banking, or other segments of the financial services industry
  • IELTS/TOEFL score is required for applicants who have not received a degree from a programme taught in English
  • Admission interviews will be conducted for short-listed candidates
  • Professionals with strong IT and/or operations work experience in other industries are also encouraged to apply

Each block will start with 3 face-to-face lessons of 3 hours each to cover the first 3 lessons. Face-to-face lessons will be recorded to help those who cannot attend these sessions. Class sessions will combine lectures with discussions, hands-on lab sessions, problem-solving practice classes, and group work. Exams will be held during face-to-face sessions in the following block though online proctored exams will also be available on a case to case basis.”

Time Table

During the 1st week of each block (residential studies – Monday to Saturday), classes starts at 9am to 12pm with a break from 12pm to 2pm, followed by another an afternoon class starting at 2pm to 5pm.

During online sessions from week 2 to 11, classes are held on Friday nights from 9pm to 10.30pm and Saturday mornings from 10.30am to 12pm and afternoons from 12.30pm to 2pm.
